Today, Thursday 18 July 2024, Médiapart was able to obtain the new investigation report into Nestlé’s fraudulent treatment of mineral water. And it is chilling: The scale of the fraud is unprecedented. In terms of its duration: more than fifteen years, and in terms of its amount: more than €3 billion at least! The investigation into Nestlé’s illegal treatment of natural mineral water reveals that the company has been misleading consumers for more than 15 years. Since 2005, it has sold more than 18 billion bottles of water under the Contrex, Hépar or Vittel brands, whose quality is equivalent to tap water at a price almost a hundred times higher.
Investigations by the DGCCRF into the water of Contrex, Hépar and Vittel show that Nestlé has been using prohibited treatments since 2005, or even since 1993, because several water sources are «contaminated with pathogens and heterotrophic bacteria above the legal limit», sometimes up to 85% above the legal limit.
