Not everything went as well as wanted and hoped for at the Olympic Games in the Blue Community / Blue City of Paris and for the river Seine. But a lot of progress has been made with the water quality improving substantially. The Seine has become the real star from the very beginning and the opening of the Games. And this shall not be the end, but just the beginning of winning back the river and giving it back to the citizens. Deputy Mayor Dan Lert, in charge of the ecological transition, the Climate Plan, water and energy, and chairman of the public water service Eau de Paris, announced that beyond the Olympics, the next ecological challenge for Paris shall be to move towards recognising the legal personality of the Seine! As Dan Lert wrote:
Granting rights to the river means protecting it better from pollution and allowing it to defend itself.
