LFI deputy Gabriel Amard has published a ‘Manifesto for the public management of water’, published by Editions 2031, in which he sets out on a tour of Veolia’s strongholds with hard-hitting arguments in favour of public management of water and wastewater services: Toulouse, Marseille, Lille and many others. After the positive experience with remunizipalisation over the last fifteen years, we must now turn the page once and for all.
«La Guerre de l’eau», first published in 2013, retraces the debates that Gabriel Amard launched on the basis of his experience in public water management. These debates took place during his fight in Essonne against a subsidiary of the multinational Suez, which tried to stop him using methods worthy of influence peddling. Along the way, the author met pioneers of public water management as well as those who promoted its commercialisation.
The manifesto is available here on the Editions 2031 website for 6€.
