The Swiss Blue Community VSA (Association of Swiss Wastewater and Water Protection Experts) prolongs and extends its pilot project on sponge cities. While the pilot phase of the project is coming to an end, with the website sponge-city.info VSA created now an information platform for the sponge city network. The awareness that we need to adapt our planning to the changing climate has grown in recent years. The early consideration of rainwater management in every project, from road renovation to new development, has also been established. However, further steps are needed to embed good practice on a wider scale. The project launched by the VSA will therefore be developed beyond 2024 as the ‘Sponge City Network’.
Good practice as inspiration, a sponge city toolbox, aids for the planning, realisation and maintenance of sponge city elements, knowledge transfer and networking… it’s all there.
