Report: The Nexus Water – Economy

Pedro Arrojo Agudo, UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, presented his report addressing the “Nexus water-economy: managing water for productive uses from a humanrights perspective”, highlighting the need for water ecosystems and water cycles to be managed as common goods and common natural heritages from a humanrights-based approach. He presented the need for ethical categories and establish laws and rules that establish priorities: 

  1. Water for sustaining life. 
  2. Water used for general good. 
  3. Water for economy an productive use.
