A new catalogue and database of over 17,000 European river catchments facilitates the work of researchers in the field of hydrology. The EStreams project, carried out at the Swiss Blue Community Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, provides hydrological and meteorological data as well as information on the landscape of the river regions. The records go back up to 120 years.
Thiago Nascimento, PhD student at Eawag, explains:
“EStreams is about streamflow data from Europe’s rivers and where to find this data. With EStreams, we have developed a catalogue that contains information for European countries on where to find the streamflow data and how to download it. In doing so, we have addressed a need.”
