Bogotá’s health department insisted that the capital’s water is drinkable, even during the winter wave, the platform Infobae reports. The official said that the water treated in the country’s capital is suitable for consumption, but recalled that, in the case of using tank water, maintenance of the containers is necessary for hygiene reasons.

In Bogotá, the quality of drinking water is still a matter of debate, especially in relation to the pipes that bring it to homes, given the rains that have occurred in several regions of the country, including Bogotá.

According to the Secretary of Health in Bogotá, the water that reaches homes is fit for human consumption and does not need to be boiled before use. However, recommendations have been issued for certain regions of the country where it is recommended to boil the water due to possible contamination. These recommendations are part of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health:

“Another feature is the permanent and constant washing of the tanks. In this sense, the recommendation is to maintain the cleanliness of the water reservoirs. Water taken directly from the aqueduct is perfectly drinkable. If there are reservoirs, their maintenance must be guaranteed”.
