The city with a river but the inhabitants without drinking water: For the past seven months, the people in the city of Peja in Kosovo have been facing a shortage of drinking water. The water company, Hidrodrini, says this is due to a lack of rain, but residents complain that road and housing works are to blame. They say this has left certain areas of the town, where Lumbardhi is located, without drinking water.

The interruption of water that lasts for hours is worrying the residents who do not even receive notification of the interruption schedule. Luan Thaçi, a resident of Peja, says:

“In some neighborhoods there are also long-term reductions, with 12 hours and maybe even more. The population and housing growth has started. The certain neighborhoods where the big houses are built, how are they connected, and now the old capacities do not meet like this, they are forced to make reductions here and there, there are also demolitions that are carried out on the roads and the water pipes are damaged.”
