RadioChico Switzerland goes silent – Kene Elou Te is here!
After a long, interesting and very enriching time, the era of the Swiss Blue Community youth radio project RadioChico Switzerland is coming to an end. Due to financial reasons and a vanishing interest from volunteers and supporters, RadioChico can no longer continue in this form.
Something new and exciting has emerged from this long period: Kene Elou Te and its 4 pillars:
- Ecole RadioChico Mali
- Forest Garden
- Solar oven construction
- Water supply / Blue Community
Five years ago, RadioChico Switzerland and the teacher Souleymane Guindo founded the Ecole RadioChico in Mali: a school of life with 111 motivated children who spread peace and joy of life here on earth. They learn to feed themselves, play and build solar ovens to save wood.
The Ecole RadioChico extended its work to neighbouring French-speaking countries in West Africa, and in the spring of 2024, the Réseau Ecole RadioChico (RERC) network became one of the first three Blue Communities on the African continent.
The Ecole RadioChico Mali and the Swiss association Kene Elo Te are the voice of the world. Thanks to the technical infrastructure provided by Kene Elou Te, the ‘good news’ produced by the young people can be disseminated in their own country, on the African continent and here in Europe via websites, podcasts and project-related webstreams.
Two continents meet and shake hands: an exchange of different cultures, making their visions and their implementation visible and audible.
The idea of youth development, uplifting ideas and giving visions a chance in life lives on with the new Kene Elou project. We are taking all our learning experiences and putting them into this great project ‘Kene Elou Te’, into peace and joie de vivre, and spreading the many stories that emerge through uplifting reports, podcasts and videos to the wider world.
From today, the African Blue Community Réseau Ecole RadioChico (RERC) in Mali will take over the Blue Community programmes. The children know a lot about this important element, water, and are constantly learning what it means not to have water.
We need a minimal infrastructure in Switzerland to be able to continue our projects for and with Mali:
We are looking for an affordable space, active participants from young to old and financial support.
Help us to keep this vision alive in the years to come.
Yours sincerely
Annemarie Koch, President of the Kene Elou Te Association
