Hillsburgh well for the public good!

The Canadian Blue Community (Wellington) Water Watchers calls for action:

As Blue Triton sunsets operations in Ontario, help ensure the Hillsburgh well is never used for water profiteering again and is instead used for the public good!

We are overjoyed with the great news that Blue Triton is closing its operations in Ontario in January 2025! As we celebrate this milestone, we must remain diligent to ensure that their wells are never again used for profiteering off of precious groundwater.

The Town of Erin is actively seeking new well sources to meet current growth targets. (you can see the recent article More water upgrades needed to accommodate new development in Erin, Hillsburgh to learn more)

There is a proposed well that Council is considering and as seen in this report from the May 30th, 2024 Source Protection Committee Meeting, there are a total of 16 possible or existing significant drinking water threats associated with this well.

Is this another Walkerton crisis in the making?

New wells come at a tremendous cost to both source, dig and bring online. Instead of moving forward with a well that has significant risk factors, the Town of Erin could use the fully-operational Blue Triton well located in Hillsburgh as their new water source.

TAKE ACTION!!! Water for Life, Not Profit!

Regardless of where you live, please make a submission on the CTC (Credit Valley, Toronto and Region, Central Lake Ontario) Source Water Protection comment period

The public are invited to comment in writing up until to 5 p.m. on January 22 2025.  Please follow directions on this link to make your online submission through the CTC website.
