Thames Water has confirmed prices for its customers will be hiked by £19 a month from April.
The firm claims the increase is to allow for investment in the infrastructure over the next five years. Thames Water oversaw a 40 per cent rise in sewage pollution to more than 350 incidents in the first half of 2024. It was one of three water companies in the UK which was facing huge fines from Ofwat for its failure to manage sewage spills.
Thames Water is England’s biggest water company and supplies around 16 million customers. Last month, it was reported that the utility spent millions of environmental ‘clean-up’ money on other costs including bonuses and dividends.
