Lithium in Bolivia: What is behind the contracts signed by the government with Chinese and Russian companies?
The government of Luis Arce has not been able to obtain support for the lithium mining contracts because there is opposition to these agreements in the Bolivian legislature, where the contracts should be approved.
There are observations about the commercial agreements signed with a Chinese consortium and a Russian state-owned company. There are also complaints in the streets that there was no free, prior and informed consultation or environmental impact assessment before the foreign contracts were approved.
