An investment of 5 billion Mexican pesos has improved access to drinking water for more than 200,000 people: Maru Campos.
María Eugenia Campos Galván, better known as Maru Campos, is a Mexican politician and lawyer, member of the National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional). On 8 September 2021, she became the governor of Chihuahua, the first woman to hold the post. Chihuahua, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Chihuahua, is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 federal entities of Mexico.
In her third report, Maru Campos stressed that the legacy of her administration will be to bring drinking water to those who do not have it.
5 billion pesos have been invested in drinking water, sanitation and sewerage systems, providing more than 200,000 people with access to drinking water. In addition, 4,500 kilometres of national roads were rehabilitated.
In her third report, María Eugenia Campos Galván stressed that her government’s legacy will be to bring drinking water to those who do not have it. She stressed that these infrastructure works, although not always visible, are crucial because they represent dignity and social justice.
With this investment, the water network has been maintained, reaching 91% coverage in the state, according to INEGI. This positions Chihuahua as a national leader in water infrastructure, with the greatest access to drinking water services in the country.
