German School Kit: My Drinking Water

Clipboard 03 14 2025 01

NEW: ‘My Drinking Water Lesson’ educational kit for grades 3 and 4 (in German).

‘My Drinking Water Lesson’ offers a varied and practical programme on drinking water, health and heat.

The box contains three workbooks on health, sustainability and getting to know your water supplier.

Each booklet contains two to three activities such as role plays, quizzes, experiments and quartet games. In 45-minute lessons, children are immersed in the world of drinking water, analysing their drinking behaviour and how it is linked to their health and our environment.

The workbooks can also be completed largely independently by pupils.

Extreme heat waves, droughts and tropical nights are becoming more frequent. That’s why it’s important for children to learn how to protect themselves from the heat. One simple measure is to drink enough – ideally tap water. It is healthy, sustainable and inexpensive. This material helps primary school children to develop ‘tap water literacy’ as part of heat protection education.

We developed the water education box on behalf of the German City of Karlsruhe’s Department for the Environment and Occupational Health and Safety. It is part of the city’s climate adaptation measures to protect health and prevent the consequences of the climate crisis. In this way, the city and a tip:tap are fulfilling the requirements of the National Water Strategy and the Climate Adaptation Act.
