From the Blue Community / Blue City of Paris and its public water utility Eau de Paris: “Printemps de l’eau” – Springtime for water: get involved in the new season!
On the occasion of World Water Day on 22 March and throughout April, the Printemps de l’Eau (Spring of Water) is an opportunity for civil society actors to reflect on the issues surrounding this precious resource. Printemps de l’Eau brings together local authorities, public utilities, associations and citizens to raise awareness of water-related issues: public management, the right to water, respect for the water cycle and the quality of drinking water.
It is based on 4 fundamental values dear to Eau de Paris:
- Ecology: Promoting respect for water as a key element of ecosystems, protecting natural resources and combating pollution.
- Public management: Affirming that water is a common good that must be managed publicly, transparently and democratically.
- Global solidarity: Support the universal right to water and sanitation by taking action to ensure equitable access to this resource.
- Citizen participation: Encouraging the active participation of citizens and elected representatives in water management decisions.
With Eau de Paris, change the city, your perceptions… or your journeys
A variety of initiatives have been launched to mobilise civil society around water issues and raise public awareness: events, conferences, public debates, practical workshops, information campaigns, etc.
For Eau de Paris, here are the events on offer:
- The participatory budget: from 3 to 23 March 2025, every Parisian of legal age is invited to vote on the initiatives that will shape the future of drinking water in the capital. Nearly forty educational, technical and artistic projects are up for grabs!
- Atelier des Métamorphoses, ‘L’eau demain, une affaire de femme? In the company of a sociologist, a philosopher and a business leader, debate the future challenges of water and co-construct a new representation of this resource.
- Guided walks: discover the unique hydraulic heritage of Paris with Eau de Paris representatives. The ancient remains and reservoirs of the 3 aqueducts, the water tower and factory overlooking the city in Montmartre, and the basins and waterfalls of La Villette and Buttes Chaumont.
