Ondara approves public water management through SINMA. Council approves fire, flood and emergency plans.
The plenary session of Ondara City Council unanimously agreed to entrust the public company SINMA S.L.U. with the management of the municipal water supply and sanitation services from 1 September 2025, when the current concession with (private) ‘Aguas de Valencia’ expires. The agreement, which has the support of all the political groups (PSPV, PP and Compromís), stipulates that SINMA will take over the direct and integral management of the service, including the recruitment of staff and the subrogation of labour relations.
In the debate on the water issue, all the groups stressed the importance of the move to direct management, although Mayor José Ramiro warned that the priority was to improve the efficiency of the network before considering a future reduction in the water bill, so as not to raise false expectations among the population.
