The Blue Community / Blue City of Cádiz was not left without water during the Spanish national blackout: this is how Aguas de Cádiz responded.

Cádiz is returning to normal after the blackout that hit the whole country the day before, with no serious or major incidents. This was announced by the Mayor of Cádiz, Bruno García, together with the Deputy Mayors in charge of the public companies Eléctrica de Cádiz and Aguas de Cádiz, Maite González and José Manuel Cossi.

At Aguas de Cádiz, 16 people were working in the city during the day to ensure continuity of service. The water supply was maintained, although the pressure was lower, especially in the upper floors.

In terms of sewerage, the Martona pumping station was the main point of failure. This station collects the waste water pumped by the various waste water pumping stations (EBAR) in the city and sends it to the Cadiz and San Fernando Waste Water Treatment Plant (Estación Depuradora de Cádiz y San Fernando). The Martona was powered by an emergency engine and had a reserve of diesel oil, which was replenished during the day in anticipation of a possible prolonged blackout.

Aguas de Cádiz staff remain on alert to deal with any possible repercussions, although the situation is now back to normal.
