Is your city or country planning to privatise water utilities? Think twice and look to the UK: Sea swimmer warns of sewage dangers ahead of protest.

A KEEN sea swimmer has told of having to spend five days in hospital after swimming in contaminated water off the East Lothian coast, ahead of a planned protest against sewage pollution later this month.

Paddle-Out Protests, organised by Surfers Against Sewage, are taking place across the UK, including at Belhaven Bay.

The nationwide event sees protests take place on May 17 in a bid to show the groundswell of support behind the end sewage pollution campaign.

Among those to have fallen ill after taking to the water off the East Lothian coast is Shelley Sim.
