The Future Food Institute: Blue Community and the transition needed for territories.
“The transition will never happen if large and small territories do not take concrete action together. We need Blue Communities and new multi-fund instruments to support the transition.”
This plea was made by Sara Roversi, president of the Future Food Institute, during Venice Climate Week at the IUAV University of Venice. This afternoon, there will be a dialogue on ‘Future Lands’, taking an in-depth look at integral ecology and exploring how food security and the regeneration of marginal areas can help build resilient futures around the world.
A meeting was held yesterday to mark the beginning of a workshop that will continue throughout the year. It will involve the research team of Pro-Rector Francesco Musco, as well as mayors, administrators and local authorities. Stefano Pisani, the Anci delegate for marginal areas with high potential and mayor of Pollica, launched a very interesting proposal. In response to the Venice Declaration launched by Jeremy Rifkin and the Municipality of Venice, Pisani said that we must begin to focus on Blue Communities as well as green communities and, above all, implement multi-fund instruments that can engage the territories. ‘The transition,’ Roversi concluded, ‘will never happen if large and small territories do not take concrete action together.’
