On 3 September 2025, the Cantonal Court of Zug will hear the climate lawsuit filed by Ibu Asmania, Arif Pujianto, Edi Mulyono and Pak Bobby from Indonesia against Holcim for the first time. The case is being supported by HEKS, ECCHR and WALHI. Their home island of Pari is under threat of being submerged by the sea.
Holcim bears some responsibility for this. The plaintiffs are demanding emission reductions, compensation, and financial support for climate adaptation.
First, the court will consider whether those affected by climate damage can have access to a Swiss court, and thus to justice. Ibu Asmania and Arif Pujianto will travel to Zug for the hearing.
