Nordic International is the first Blue Community / Blue School in Lima, Peru. The school joined the new cluster of Blue Schools this year. Here the information about their current activities related to the Blue Community:

Across our two Grade 7 classes, students are working in six groups with the following focus areas:

  • Two groups are addressing the challenge of access to clean drinking water at school. Since our tap water is not potable, they are designing strategies to reduce reliance on plastic water bottles and promote more sustainable alternatives.
  • Two groups are developing educational campaigns to raise awareness about water protection and the universal right to clean water and sanitation. They are also exploring ways to embed water care topics into the school curriculum and design tools or techniques that make this information easily accessible, engaging, and understandable for both students and the wider community.
  • The final two groups are investigating water use in agriculture, both within and beyond our school. Their solution involves creating a hydroponic garden in collaboration with our Gardening Club. This will not only demonstrate efficient water use in food production but also provide a hands-on learning opportunity that supports the water education groups in communicating the environmental benefits of hydroponics.
