Montague Public School has been designated as the first school in Ontario to achieve the Blue Community School certification with the national environmental advocacy group “The Council of Canadians.”
To celebrate this achievement, Helene Bertrand and Dr. Maude Barlow, from The Council of Canadians, visited the school to certify Montague as a Blue Community school. This signifies that we will not use plastic water bottles in the school, we will be water protectors, and we will advocate for clean water for all human beings. It was such an honour to have our special guests, Dr. Maude Barlow was so kind as she had a round table lunch with environmental student leaders in the school and inspired all students in the assembly as she was a key figure in achieving clean water being recognized as a human right with the United Nations.
