From the African Blue Community Ecumenical Water Network Africa EWNA as part of the Africa Water Justice Network:
Statement of Solidarity with Human Rights Defenders in Kenya!
Dear Comrades,
I hope this message finds you well and in solidarity.
The Africa Water Justice Network (AWJN) stands in unwavering solidarity with our comrades in Kenya who are facing violent repression and unlawful detention for bravely demanding justice, dignity, and democracy.
On the night of 27th June 2025, three activists — Mark Armani, Mulingwa Nzau, and Mutunge Mwangi — were unlawfully arrested and falsely accused of inciting violence during a peaceful protests on 25th June against state brutality. Their detention, without any formal charges, is an attack not only on them but on all who fight for equity, accountability, and human rights across our continent.
We have issued the attached Press Statement condemning this repression and calling for the immediate release of the detained activists and an end to the harassment of human rights defenders in Kenya.
We urge you to:
- Share this statement widely within your networks.
- Add your voice to the call for their immediate release.
- Stand vigilant and in solidarity with our comrades in Kenya.
An injustice to one is an injustice to all. Let us stand together across borders in defense of freedom, democracy, and human dignity.
