The Blue Community Network is delighted to welcome a new partner in Africa, the first one in Liberia. On September 30, 2025, the organisation TEARS Mother International (TMI) achieved the designation of a Blue Community.
TMI was founded in 2022 as a multidisciplinary, non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development through education, healthcare, environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and advocacy for marginalized communities. TMI integrates research, policy engagement, and grassroots interventions to create meaningful and lasting social impacts.
Based in the Montserrado County of the Republic of Liberia, TMI works also in Bomi, Margibi, Lofa, and River Cees, commited to community awareness on water conservation, hygiene promotion, and participation in the ‹Good Water Corridor Program› to improve access to safe water in vulnerable areas. TMIs goals are to strengthen recognition of water and sanitation as a human right, empower communities with knowledge, and advocate for sustainable water management. Planned activities include training workshops, school-based sensitization, community dialogues, and stakeholder partnerships under the Good Water Corridor Program to ensure inclusive and equitable access to clean water and sanitation.
TMI has branches in Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Uganda. Its 8 staff are supported by volunteers, consultants, and contractors.
Since its establishment, TEARS Mother International has:
- Empowered over 300 women and youth through skills training and entrepreneurship support.
- Provided healthcare services to over 1,500 individuals in remote areas through mobile clinics.
- Planted 20,000 trees as part of its reforestation initiatives.
- Developed climate education toolkits distributed in 30+ schools.
- Facilitated financial literacy programs, benefiting 200+ small-scale entrepreneurs.
- Training teachers
- Established community support groups in 40+ communities
Mustapha Mao Rogers, Executive Director of TEARS Mother International Inc., states:
