Public Fountains for Thessaloniki

public tap 3 1

From the Blue Community Thessaloniki, Greece:

The Minister of Culture has inaugurated four more public tap water points in our city. These fountains are particularly notable as they date back over 100 years to the Ottoman Empire era, when Thessaloniki had no water network and people had to carry water themselves.
These historical monuments tell the story of the city and contribute to the beauty and vitality of the neighbourhoods.
By offering drinking water once again, they strengthen the connection of residents with their history and public space.

There was lots of news and photos of this event in the press. Unfortunately, none of the people in the municipality thought to invite our union or our company, EYATH, which came up with the idea of providing public tap water in the city and installed it in two of the four historical fountains. Nevertheless, we will continue to work for the greater good!
Best regards,
Yiorgos
