From the Blue Community / Blue City of Paris and its public water service Eau de Paris:
As part of European Heritage Days, Eau de Paris and Provins Town Hall are opening the doors to the Voulzie water source area. The programme includes visits to the Bassin and Vicomté springs, as well as a market featuring local producers.
The Vicomté and Bassin springs
Fifty per cent of Paris’s water comes from surface water, and the other fifty per cent comes from springs. The spring water is drawn from sources several dozen kilometres away, as part of the supply system designed by Eugène Belgrand. These springs are protected by Eau de Paris in terms of both water quality and surrounding biodiversity, and constitute an important architectural and natural heritage. During the European Heritage Days, the Vicomté and Bassin springs in the Voulzie region, near Provins, will open their doors to the public.
Eau de Paris also invites you to celebrate Heritage Day by discovering organic and/or locally produced goods from Provins farms at a market organised in the spring area.
