Water is a common good, not a commodity.

Protecting water resources and the ecosystems that sustain them is one of the most urgent challenges facing humanity. Water is essential for life and a strategic resource for health, the environment and sustainable development. Protecting it is an integral part of our broader commitment to caring for creation, reflected in our daily responsibility towards the planet and future generations. Goal 6 of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda prioritises universal access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation. This is an ambitious yet essential objective, particularly given the increasing threats to water resources posed by environmental crises, widespread pollution and the effects of climate change, which endanger social stability and public health.
