The result of water privatization has been and is disastrous for the people who have suffered and continue to suffer from it. 

Until the late 1980s, the idea of ​​considering water as a commodity subject to the laws of market supply and demand had never been raised. This concept gained momentum in the 1990s. Thus, the principle “If I have money, I have access to drinking water; if I don’t, I either die of thirst or drink contaminated water, and may luck help me survive” was embodied. Water, in short, ceased to be a human right and a social good.
