The Swiss Blue Community Kene Elou Te (formerly RadioChico) is raising funds for a project of its Mali partner, the Blue Community Réseau Ecole RadioChico RERC, to build a fountain to feed the garden:
The severe flooding from July to October 2024 hit Dogonland and many other regions of Mali very hard. People, animals and nature were severely damaged. Houses were destroyed, livestock died and fields were devastated. Many families are still suffering from food shortages and a lack of clean drinking water.
Moussa Guindo is a 54-year-old Dogon farmer and the coordinator of the garden project in this region. He works tirelessly on a voluntary basis alongside teachers, Dogon children, and children of former rebels. The children are already enthusiastically planting, tending to the garden and learning together.
Mohamed Gadiaga is an extremely trustworthy partner. He has already built the well and water tower in Kambila/Kati for the children of Ecole RadioChico. He has submitted a binding offer of CHF 14,314 for the construction of the new well in Tely to water the garden, as the rainy season is coming to its end.
Kene Elou Te managed to raise already 6000 CHF, but is still lacking some 8000 CHF (9000 €) to realize the fountain.
