From Bern, capital of Switzerland and the first Blue Community / Blue City out of Canada:
Milestone for Bern’s drinking water supply.
The new Mannenberg reservoir in Ittigen has a capacity of 35 million liters of drinking water. This will supply around 250,000 people in 16 municipalities and the city of Bern with drinking water in the future. Construction of the largest water reservoir in the canton of Bern took four years and cost CHF 43 million. The old reservoir has been in service for over 100 years. TeleBärn was given a tour of this once-in-a-century construction project.
