Spanish Water Taken Back Public

In the Spanish region of Catalonia, more and more municipalities take water back into public ownership. Here the latest case:

Aigües de Cardedeu is now a reality: the municipality assumes management of the service.

Aigües de Cardedeu has been providing the municipal drinking water supply service  for the municipality since Saturday, November 1. According to the City Council, the new management will not involve any changes for users and will be carried out through the Besòs Tordera Consortium . The Cardedeu council made this decision after the last municipal meeting that resolved the contract with the previous concessionaire of the municipal drinking water supply service

With Aigües de Cardedeu, the municipality’s City Council will directly manage the water service in the municipality, which will pass into public hands . The City Council will manage the service through the Besòs Tordera Consortium , a public entity of which it is a part, and will do so under the name Aigües de Cardedeu.
