From the Blue Community Réseau Ecole RadioChico in Mali and its Swiss partner, the Blue Community Kene Elou Te:
In the Dogonland of Mali, water is now flowing – and with it, hope for 100 children.
Yesterday (November 27, 2025), the new solar water-tower well in Tely (Dogonland) was officially inaugurated.
The Hogon, the mayor, families and children were all present.
There was dancing, singing, laughter – and a first young tamarind tree was planted and blessed with fresh well water.
The seed of this tamarind tree came from the Kene Elou Te forest-garden project in Kambila/Kati,
where Souleymane Guindo serves as project leader.
A powerful symbol: projects grow, connect and nourish one another –
just like communities do.
Two weeks ago, water was found after only two days of drilling – a small miracle in one of West Africa’s driest regions.
The protective fence around the 1-hectare garden is nearly complete.
A new chapter begins:
100 children now have access to clean water, can grow vegetables, care for their trees and learn true self-sufficiency.
A second “Peace Garden” has come to life – built through trust, cooperation and shared humanity.
A deeply touching moment:
Mohamed Gadiaga, the technical leader of the project, was honoured by the Hogon with a traditional Dogon outfit – a gesture of profound respect.
And at the heart of it all stands Souleymane Guindo:
teacher, bridge-builder, peacemaker, coordinator of both children’s projects –
a human being working with courage, compassion and dedication.
This miracle would not have been possible without him.
I am deeply moved by the strength, joy and courage of everyone involved –
in Mali and in Switzerland.
A small miracle has become reality.
And it has only just begun to grow.
Kene Elou Te – Water. Joy. Future.
