It’s written water, it reads democracy
Citizens have the right to a robust, transparent, and publicly governed urban water system. This right is only protected if institutions reject any approach that would turn a common good into a commodity.
Last Thursday, I experienced an unpleasant event at the Emasesa Water Observatory meeting , which I attended as a representative of the Savia Foundation. Without prior notice and in a gesture that broke the usual serenity of public bodies, it was confirmed that Aeopas (Spanish Association of Public Water Supply and Sanitation Operators) was expelled from the Emasesa Water Observatory, a public entity that manages water in the Seville metropolitan area.
