From the Blue City of Dietikon, Switzerland, to the Blue Community ‘Viva con Agua’:
Fundraising campaign secures drinking water for 800 children.
The Blue Community / Blue City of Dietikon is donating 4459 Swiss francs to the Blue Community ‘Viva con Agua’. The money will improve access to clean drinking water for around 800 schoolchildren in Uganda.
The city of Dietikon reports that, together with Viva con Agua Switzerland (VcA), it collected donations for a water project in Uganda at the Dietikon city festival and during World Water Week 2025. With a gratifying sum of almost 4,500 Swiss francs, sustainable access to clean drinking water will be improved for hundreds of schoolchildren.
The city of Dietikon, as a Blue Community, is committed to the responsible and fair use of water . This commitment is based on four principles, including the recognition of water as a human right and the cultivation of public and international partnerships.
In particular, this fourth principle was the deciding factor for a joint fundraising campaign at World Water Week 2025 and the city festival.
Water you can touch
At the heart of the event was a large water lounge, offering visitors a diverse and accessible program on the topic of drinking water. Information was provided on the local water supply in Dietikon, the global water situation, and VcA’s international water projects.
Interactive art activities for children and adults, a VR headset experience where participants themselves became ” water ,” an information wall, a water quiz, a raffle, and a wheel of fortune invited participation. Visitors could also donate their reusable cups to VcA.
Donations secure drinking water for 800 children
Thanks to these diverse offerings, part of the revenue from the Planzer truck, which entertained the Dietikon administration at the festival, and World Water Week 2025, a total of 4459.95 Swiss francs was raised.
The donated funds will go towards a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) project by Viva con Agua in Uganda. Specifically, the donations collected in Dietikon will enable the construction of a 10,000-liter stainless steel rainwater harvesting tank for a school, thus improving the water supply for approximately 800 children and their teachers.
With this commitment, the city of Dietikon is making an active contribution as a Blue Community to more health and educational opportunities, fully in line with the motto: Water for all – all for water .
