No more bottled water: Museum Langmatt will only serve tap water in the future.
With its reopening, the Langmatt Museum in the city of Baden, Switzerland, is setting an example for a more conscious use of water resources. At the same time, the museum is expanding its offerings, especially for school groups.
Clean drinking water is taken for granted in Switzerland – but this is not the case for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. The Langmatt Museum is using its reopening in May, following extensive renovations, as an opportunity to bring this issue more sharply into focus. Going forward, the museum will be working with the non-profit organization “Water for Water” (WfW) to promote a more conscious use of this resource.
From May 2026, the Langmatt Museum will completely eliminate bottled water, as the museum announced in its newsletter. Instead, fresh, filtered tap water, still or sparkling, will be offered at events, functions, and in the veranda café. The proceeds from water sales will go directly to water, hygiene, and education programs run by WfW in Mozambique, Zambia, and Switzerland.
The Langmatt is not the first Baden institution to address this issue: Last year, the Fortyseven wellness spa also collected donations from its guests for “Water for Water.” A total of 9,600 Swiss francs was raised, which will be used to finance new water connections in Zambia and Mozambique . Here, too, raising awareness of the value of clean drinking water was the central focus.
