The smallest Blue Community, the Bed & Breakfast Maré Mars in France, makes headlines in Switzerland:

From Winterthur parliamentarian to small business owner in the Loire Valley.

Ahead of his time – or a romanticised, outdated hippie fantasy? Former president of the SP-Töss, city parliamentarian in Winterthur and social worker Daniel Altenbach has built a new life for himself with a chambre d’hôte near Nevers (FR). Matthias Erzinger visited him. What he found there deserves respect.

«He is proud to be the only person in France outside Paris to meet the requirements of the Blue Community. (…) In the Winterthur parliament, his proposals were not always popular, even among the green-red city council majority, not least because of his criticism of growth. A proposal for plastic recycling was resolutely rejected. He was ahead of his time. And with his consistent philosophy of sustainability, he is probably still ahead of his time today at Maré Mars.»
