Bitcoin needs as much water as the whole of Switzerland.
The Bitcoin network generates 114 million tons of CO2 annually, comparable to the emissions of the Czech Republic. Furthermore, it consumes as much drinking water as the entire country of Switzerland, according to an analysis by Digiconomist.
According to Digiconomist, a single Bitcoin transaction currently causes as much CO2 as watching around 117,000 hours of YouTube videos – or processing 1.5 million Visa transactions.
