February 2026. Morocco is just emerging from a long drought. Seven years of counting millimeters of rain, scrutinizing dam levels, and talking about water stress. And suddenly, the rains fall relentlessly. The country, accustomed to drought, hadn’t anticipated this… and it shows; the impact is devastating.

Dams are overflowing, releasing nearly 5 billion cubic meters of water, flooding cities and submerging farmland. In the north, water inundates fields, forcing families to flee their homes. In the south, paradoxically, people continue to wait for rain. But how can a country suffering from a water shortage find itself overwhelmed by its abundance?
