Atmospheric Clouds in the Asia-Pacific

Atmospheric Clouds in the Asia-Pacific, The recording of the last webinar organised by the Indian Blue Community PRISM as part of the Climate Action Resources N

The recording of the last webinar organised by the Indian Blue Community PRISM as part of the Climate Action Resources Network -Asia Pacific (CARN-AP) in the series: “Advancing Climate Action, Community Resilience & Knowledge Collaboration in Asia Pacific” is now online:

Clouds may look soft and simple, but they play one of the most complex and powerful roles in shaping our weather and climate. In this session on Atmospheric Clouds, in collaboration with PRISM and CARN-AP, we explored how clouds influence rainfall, cyclones, heatwaves, and long-term climate change. Despite major advances in climate science, cloud dynamics remain one of the biggest uncertainties in climate projections. Their ability to both cool and warm the Earth creates feedback loops that directly affect extreme weather events and disaster risks. In this webinar, we discussed:

  • The science behind cloud formation and types
  • How clouds influence weather systems
  • Their role in extreme rainfall and climate variability
  • Why clouds remain a major challenge in climate modelling
  • What this means for forecasting and disaster preparedness

Understanding clouds is not just about looking at the sky, it is about improving climate predictions, strengthening disaster risk reduction, and preparing for a changing future. Watch the full session to deepen your understanding of how atmospheric clouds shape the world around us.
