Last week, we welcomed Salah El Sadi as our newest Blue Community Ambassador (see here). For his first contribution ahead of World Water Day 2026, he had his own organisation join the Blue Community.
Blue Filter is a non-commercial company based in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, and registered in Gaza, Palestine, founded by the Palestinian environmental innovator and latest Blue Community Ambassador Salah El Sadi. He states:
«We become a Blue Community because we strongly believe that access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right and a critical foundation for human dignity, public health, and sustainable development. Through the Blue Filter initiative, our work focuses on developing affordable and environmentally sustainable water purification solutions that can help communities access safe drinking water, especially in regions affected by water scarcity, pollution, and humanitarian crises.»
The Blue Filter initiative operates primarily as a social and environmental project with a humanitarian mission. Its main objective is to support communities that lack access to safe drinking water by developing affordable and sustainable water purification solutions. The goals of Blue Filter are focused on environmental protection, public health, and community resilience rather than generating profit.
In his commitment for the Blue Filter to join the Blue Community he writes:
«Our goals include increasing awareness of the human right to water, supporting community-led water solutions, and promoting policies that recognize water as a public good rather than a commercial commodity. Our activities include community outreach, educational initiatives about water safety, and pilot projects that provide practical water purification systems in vulnerable communities. In humanitarian contexts, such as Gaza, we are currently supporting emergency water distribution efforts to ensure families have access to safe drinking water.»
«We believe that water services should remain accessible and accountable to the public. Publicly financed and community-centered water systems ensure that water remains affordable and fairly distributed. Our work supports this principle by promoting water solutions that can be implemented by communities, municipalities, and public institutions rather than relying exclusively on expensive private systems.»
In addition to the core Blue Community principles, Blue Filter supports broader principles related to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and community empowerment. Water challenges are increasingly connected to climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation.
The activities the Blue Filter initiative carries out—especially those related to humanitarian contexts such as emergency water support and community water initiatives—are implemented for social impact. Any resources or funding connected to these activities are directed toward supporting water access projects, research, and the development of sustainable water solutions for communities in need.
