Tour: ‘Blue Gold’ – Bathing on World Water Day.
In Switzerland, water is considered a public good par excellence. But not the thermal water in the city of Baden (i.e. Bath). For a long time, most of it has been controlled by private hotels and bathing establishments. A founding member of the Bagni Popolari (Public Baths) association will report on the controversial issue of water rights, outdoor swimming pools, and the distribution of water to the baths. The ‘hot thermal springs’ made the remaining thermal water accessible to everyone. On World Water Day, the Bagni Popolari association will explain the connection between deep drilling, counting rituals and medieval parchment writings and the distribution of the warm ‘blue gold’.
