International workshop discusses the concept of “water hunger” in Mozambique.
On March 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM (Mozambique time), an international workshop was held dedicated to discussing the concept of “water hunger” and organizing a collective book on the water challenges faced in Mozambique. The meeting brought together researchers and professionals from different areas with the aim of articulating scientific knowledge, local experiences, and ethical reflections on water management in the country. The activity was organized by Professor Marta Fischer, Leader of the Environmental Bioethics Research Group of the Postgraduate Program in Bioethics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), in partnership with researcher Trindade Chapare, currently a postdoctoral researcher under her supervision. The meeting included the participation of Mozambican researchers and invited collaborators, who gathered to discuss the conceptual foundations of the proposal and structure the collective production of the book. During the workshop, Trindade Chapare presented the concept of “water hunger,” understood as a condition that goes beyond simple water scarcity.
