From the Canadian Blue Community Water Watchers:
World Water Day is Here 🌊 Take action & show up for water 💧.
Somewhere between the first thaw and the spring equinox, water is flowing, moving, calling…From backyard streams to the rivers that cradle childhood memories, water shapes our days in ways both subtle and profound. With World Water Day here this Sunday, it’s the perfect moment to notice, reflect, and share the ways water touches your life. For me, I’ve now had the privilege of working at Water Watchers for 5 months. My time here has has been shaped, above all, by care. The care in how the work is done, and in how I was welcomed, supported, challenged, and trusted. I entered this role completely new to the water space, and I was met with mentorship and belief. It is here at Water Watchers that I truly realized that ordinary, everyday people change the world. The person reading this. The supporter who shows up to a council meeting. The volunteer who makes calls. The community member who asks persistent questions. That is who shifts history. Learning what it means to be an organizer, and the frameworks that ground this water justice work, has fundamentally changed how I think about justice, responsibility, and belonging. In a time that often feels destabilizing, this lesson feels especially steadying. This World Water Month, I am grateful for this space where learning and growth is nurtured, and where I can deepen my relationship with water, which is central to the work, the learning, and the community that has shaped this experience. I carry forward a deep belief in people-power, and in the persistent work that makes change possible. I hope this movement is helping you find hope as well.

🌊 Sustain the Movement: Seeking 200 Allies 🌊 |
| We need some help to get through a forecasted funding dry-spell. We’re seeking 200 people from our community to step up as Water Watchers Sustainers this month, helping support us financially while empowering our water protection work.
March & April are two months of the year we know we don’t have any grant money supporting us. That’s why we’re turning to our supporters to help us keep the lights on and keep our water protection movement rolling forward. We need 200 people to show their support with a Sustaining Donation this month. |

So far, we’ve had 42 people step up as Water Watchers Sustainers. Can you help us get to 50? |

💧 Help make Canada Water Week Official💧 |
![]() |
| Water is the lifeblood of our planet, sustaining all forms of life, yet it is too often treated as a footnote in political decision-making.
While World Water Day has helped raise global awareness since 1993, the challenges facing water in Canada require sustained, year-round attention. Establishing a Canada Water Week, anchored around March 22, would create a dedicated national platform for education, community engagement, and meaningful action on water protection, governance, and stewardship. Students from the Bruce Fellowships at Toronto Metropolitan University have submitted an e-petition to the House of Commons, calling for a formal resolution to recognize Canada Water Week. This initiative builds on decades of World Water Day engagement across Canada and highlights the urgent need to elevate water awareness, education, and action nationwide. Sign the petition to help establish Canada Water Week and ensure water remains a priority for all Canadians. |

Solidarity FeatureRiver Run 2026: Walk with Grassy Narrows for Mercury JusticeWalk with Grassy Narrows youth and community members to show that we stand with them on their path toward mercury justice and freedom. |

| Grassy Narrows secured a historic ban on logging on their territory for the next 10 years and important promises to clean their river and build a Mercury Care Home. They have the longest-running blockade in Canadian history, which has helped foster Indigenous resistance across Turtle Island and saved 15 million trees from being cut.
But so much is still needed to right the wrong of mercury poisoning in Grassy Narrows. On Wednesday September 23rd, 2026, community members and leaders will travel 1,700km from Grassy Narrows to Toronto to demand that Ontario and Canada:
RSVP HERE to say that you will show up in solidarity and walk with them in their fight for justice. |
