The Climate Action Ressource Network – Asia Pacific (CARN-AP) and the Blue Community Network join forces and collaborate on international level.

CARN-AP is a space for uniting voices of professionals, agencies and volunteers working in the Asia and the Pacific regions. It emerged from the realization that experts and agencies working in different thematic domains, at different scales with diverse communities need a platform for knowledge sharing on adaptation to climate change and enhance community resilience through discussing, sharing and dissemination of relevant learning, techniques, good practices, innovations. CARN-AP has been developed by people genuinely concerned for resilience building,  from different parts of the Asia and Pacific. Today, it includes 41 Networks, 60 Organizational members and Inividuals. .

The Blue Community unites municipalities (from big global cities to local villages), schools and universities, institutions and organisations, on the core values of water and sanitation as human rights, water as public good in public ownership and under public control (against commodification and privatisation) and promoting save tap water (instead of commercialised bottled water). The global Blue Community Network of 240 Blue Communities includes its young but fast growing chapter of 15 affiliates in South-Asia.

The collaboration of the two networks shall strengthen the information and communication with the wider community about knowledge gaps in different aspects of water (e.g., current availability and changing trends under warming world conditions, equity, access, governance, etc.). It will also help raise grassroots voices about their needs, aspirations, and how their rights are being violated.

The cooperation of the two networks was initiated by Dr. Aniruddha Dey, Chairperson of the Indian Blue Community PRISM – Professional Institute for Development and Socio-Environmental Management, and Founder Chairperson & Convener of CARN-AP.

As a first common undertaking, CARN-AP, BCnet and PRISM India plan for an international webinar on 5 June to observe World Environment Day: “Water at the Frontline: Urgent Climate Action in a Warming World” (a first «save the date» here).
