“District Resilience Consultation”
A one-day district-level Resilience Consultation on climate change and heat wave management was organized by Gautam Buddha Jagriti Society, Siddharth Nagar, focusing on strengthening community resilience and preparedness.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Chief Development Officer Mr. Balram Singh (IAS) highlighted the growing impact of stubble burning, increased greenhouse effects, rising heat waves, and their adverse effects on soil health. He emphasized the need for collective action, awareness, and sustainable solutions to address these challenges effectively.
District Disaster Advisor Ms. Pushpanjali Singh shared detailed insights on preparedness measures and advisories issued by the District Disaster Management Authority under the leadership of the District Magistrate. She also informed participants about practical measures to prevent heat wave-related risks. Concluding the session, experts urged everyone to use natural resources responsibly and promote tree plantation, water conservation, and natural farming to build a safe and climate-resilient society.
Mr. Shridhar Pandey, Secretary of Gautam Buddha Jagriti Society, presented the core elements of the Organizational Disaster and Climate Resilience Plan (ODCRP). He shared that a Community Risk Register has been developed with the support of SEEDS and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. He also highlighted several alarming district-level scenarios, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated and collective action. More than 10 line department officials, along with representatives from Vyapar Sangathan, NGOs, media, and other social actors, actively participated in the workshop and contributed to meaningful discussions and collaborative planning.
