We are delighted to announce the open event “Confronting Climate Coloniality: A Conversation with Farhana Sultana, Ph.D.” that will take place on Monday, July 6th, 2026 (11:00–12:30h) at the Sala Polivalent Mercè Rodoreda, UPF Campus Ciutadella, Barcelona .

The event is anchored around Prof. Sultana’s acclaimed book “Confronting Climate Coloniality: Decolonizing Pathways for Climate Justice” and will bring together:

•📖 Book presentation by Prof. Farhana Sultana (Syracuse University)
•💬 Scholarly and activist reactions from Mary Ann Manahan (co-editor of The Geopolitics of Green Colonialism; PhD candidate, Ghent University Doctoral School) and Joan Martínez Alier (ICTA-Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona )
•🎤 Open Q&A with the audience

This event is organised by the European Research Council (ERC)-project DIVERSE at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in collaboration with the JHU-UPF Public Policy Center and the UPF’s Centre of Studies for Planetary Wellbeing.
