In remote communities across the Lendu Plateau, the Ituri-Epulu-Aru landscape, and the wider Albertine Rift, access to reliable environmental information is still limited. Through Terra FM 95.0 and 97.0, Environmental Defenders (ED) is helping bridge that gap by bringing trusted community media closer to the people who depend on forests, lakes, land, and agriculture for survival.
Every day, farmers, fisherfolk, women environmental human rights defenders, seed collectors, landowners, youth activists, and local leaders use our radio platforms to share their experiences, raise concerns, and discuss solutions shaping their communities.
Our broadcasts reach more than 5 million people across the region with programming focused on climate change, sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, food security, peace and security, civic space, human rights, environmental conservation, and the protection of environmental defenders.
Beyond broadcasting, our agricultural extension teams work directly with farmers in the field, helping communities strengthen climate-smart farming practices, improve resilience, and connect with markets through practical information and local knowledge.
Community radio remains one of the most powerful tools for environmental awareness, participation, and social change in regions often left behind by mainstream media.
