Leadership Editorial Note by Victoria Adwet

This first quarter of 2026 reflects a critical shift in how we understand and practice water governance in Kisumu County. What we are witnessing is not just increased youth participation but a transition toward youth-led accountability, inclusion, and systems thinking within the WASH sector.
Our engagements this quarter; from inclusive education initiatives to community health outreach in flood prone areas, demonstrate that policy is most effective when it is grounded in lived realities. The challenges facing our communities require integrated, responsive, and data-driven approaches.
The launch of the SDG 6.5.1 Indicator Assessment Report, alongside the InfoHub platform, represents a significant milestone in strengthening transparency and evidence-based decision making. It reinforces the role of young people as credible actors in governance not just advocates, but contributors to knowledge and accountability systems.
As the Kisumu Youth WASH Parliament, we remain committed to advancing inclusive water governance,  strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that no community is left behind.
