Invitation to Form the Blue Community Africa Action Group.

Dear Blue Community Partners in Africa,

The Blue Community movement in Africa is entering an exciting new phase of growth and opportunity.

Over the past years, municipalities, NGOs, schools, universities, faith organizations, public institutions, community groups, and water advocates from across the continent have joined the international Blue Community Network. Together, we are building a movement dedicated to protecting water as a human right and public good, promoting sustainable water governance, and strengthening climate resilience and environmental justice.

Recently, we have been particularly encouraged by the growing interest of young people and youth-led organizations. Several highly committed and activist youth groups have joined the Blue Community movement, bringing fresh ideas, energy, creativity, and a strong sense of urgency to the challenges facing water, climate, and communities today.

Their engagement demonstrates that the next generation is ready to take responsibility and play an active role in shaping a more sustainable and just future. As a network, we have a responsibility to create opportunities for these young leaders to contribute, connect, and develop their ideas together with more established organizations and institutions.

For this reason, we invite all Blue Community partners in Africa to join the formation of a Blue Community Africa Action Group.

The purpose of this Action Group is to unlock the full potential of our growing network and create a dynamic space for cooperation, knowledge exchange, innovation, and collective action. It shall be a platform where experienced organizations and emerging youth movements can work side by side, learn from one another, and jointly develop initiatives that strengthen the Blue Community movement throughout Africa.

The Action Group will provide a space where partners can:

* Exchange experiences, ideas, and best practices
* Develop joint campaigns and advocacy initiatives
* Promote water as a human right and public good
* Support climate resilience and sustainable water management
* Organize webinars, workshops, and regional events
* Share educational resources and communication materials
* Strengthen cooperation among municipalities, NGOs, universities, schools, and community groups
* Amplify African voices within the global Blue Community movement
* Encourage youth leadership and youth participation
* Support the creation of new Blue Communities across Africa
* Build partnerships across countries, regions, and sectors

A particular objective of the Action Group will be to provide a meaningful platform for young activists and youth organizations. Their passion, innovation, and ability to mobilize communities are among the greatest assets of our movement. By connecting youth-led initiatives with experienced Blue Community partners, we can strengthen intergenerational cooperation and ensure that the movement remains vibrant, relevant, and future-oriented.

The Action Group will not replace existing structures or responsibilities. Rather, it will serve as a flexible and inclusive platform driven by the interests, ideas, and commitment of its members. Participation will be voluntary and open to all recognized Blue Community partners in Africa.

Regional coordinators will help facilitate communication and cooperation, connect partners with similar interests, support the development of common initiatives, and ensure that ideas emerging from the network can be translated into concrete activities. At the same time, the Action Group itself will be shaped by its members and their priorities.

At a time when climate change, water scarcity, pollution, and social inequalities are creating growing challenges across Africa, stronger cooperation is essential. No organization can address these issues alone. However, together we possess an extraordinary wealth of knowledge, experience, local connections, and commitment.

The Blue Community Africa Action Group offers an opportunity to transform this potential into coordinated action.

We therefore warmly invite all Blue Community partners, including municipalities, NGOs, schools, universities, faith organizations, public institutions, community groups, and youth organizations, to express their interest in joining the Action Group and to contribute ideas for its future activities.

Let us create a space where experience meets innovation.

Let us create a space where youth voices are heard and supported.

Let us create a space where local action becomes continental cooperation.

And let us work together to advance water justice, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and human dignity across Africa.
