Burundi faces the effects of desertification.
Desertification and the degradation of arable land now constitute a growing threat to the environment and food security. This phenomenon is manifested in particular by the drying out of soils and the progressive loss of their fertility. According to the expert, it is mainly caused by human activities such as excessive logging, poor land management, and the effects of climate change.
